To take advantage of the mind mapping approach, the following mapping work flow is
recommended for working with MindVisualizer:
1. Brainstorming ideas.
In this stage you should not care too much about the the layout or
the look of the map, your task is to get all ideas out into the map. The radiated,
hierarchical structure of the visual map in MindVisualizer can inspire you to generate
more ideas as opposed to other traditional methods. Actually, this is the nature of the
mind mapping methodology.
2. Refining the map layout.
If you feel somehow exhausted coming up with new ideas, try
to restructure your visual map, this will not only optimize the map but can usually spark
more ideas. In fact, you usually iterate between stage one and stage two to visualize all
your thoughts for a given subject, theme or topic.
3. Beautify the visual map.
Based on the purpose of the mapping, you might want to
beautify the map by specifying a various color, font, frame type, icon or image for the
topics. As a matter of fact, this step is not only about the look of the map. By adding the
visual elements such as icons and images, the map will convey even more information.
4. Attaching additional information.
This is one of the most powerful parts of
MindVisualizer, it extends the ability of mind mapping or concept mapping methods by
allowing you to add the following properties into the map (precisely into the topics in the
map):
· Text Notes.
· Hyperlinks.
· Attachments
· Task info.
With these extended topic properties, you can use MindVisualizer
to manage documents,
organize bookmarks, plan and manage your projects or to do lists. Soon, the applications
are only limited by your imagination.
5 Viewing, checking or tracking the
map. If you use MindVisualizer to plan things or
present ideas, the Search, Filter
and Folding
features are your best friends. They can
help your to achieve your goals.
6 Export the map to other formats for sharing. When your map is ready, you may want
to export your map into various document formats to share with others. MindVisualizer
supports a wide range of export formats
you can choose from.
